Last week Kelly had a ‘daydream’ that someone asked her if she was a doctor. Yesterday a 10 year old girl asked Kelly if she was a doctor, and Kelly said no, and was going to leave, but the thought occurred to her that maybe God had prepared her for this moment. So she asked the girl, named Eliza, why she was looking for a doctor, and Eliza said that it was because her stomach hurt, and she’d been sent home from school because she was throwing up, but couldn’t make it all the way home. Kelly sat down with her and prayed with her for healing for her stomach, and at the end asked Eliza how she felt and she said she was all better.
Recently Kelly’s been reading Scriptures that reveal God’s heart for the fatherless, and asking God how she can help them. After offering Eliza a ride home yesterday, she discovered that Eliza lived with her mother and siblings, but her father has passed away. She also learned that they were Kwaya, the language group with which I predominantly do translation work, so Kelly gave them some Kwaya books that we’ve translated, including a copy of the Gospel of Luke. Kelly was able to share the good news about Jesus with Eliza, that “he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
Eliza’s mother called today to say hi to Kelly and that Eliza’s doing well. Pray for Eliza and her family, and for the seeds that Kelly planted.
